Examples from CITI-SENSE Empowerment Initiatives (EIs)

The aim of our tools is to involve citizens in assessments of air and environmental quality to empower them to participate in environmental governance. In CITI-SENSE, we are targeting people in our nine participating cities, i.e., Barcelona, Belgrade, Edinburgh, Haifa, Ljubljana, Ostrava, Oslo, Vienna and Vitoria, but most of the tools are available to everybody, everywhere, as long as the project infrastructure is in place.

Here we present four examples from CITI-SENSE:

Tools tested in EIs

The following nine tools have been produced in CITI-SENSE and being tested and evaluated in real-life campaigns with users being cyclists, parents with children in kindergarten, students and teachers in schools, and other citizens.

The CITI-SENSE project comprises 24 experimental case studies, each of which investigates one or more important factors critical to citizens participating in environmental governance

Specifically, the project develop, test, demonstrate and validate community-based environmental monitoring and information systems using innovative and novel Earth Observation applications. You can check out our experiments by following the underneth Citizens’ Observatories portals links, links supplied in the Google Map, at the project web page and at each citizens’ observatory web portal.
